Project Type: Bespoke Kitchen Installation London
The purpose being to create a modern open-plan feel to the ground floor areas and create space for a new modern kitchen with a central island. Sounds easy enough in theory.This project involved cutting away two structural walls that separated the existing kitchen space from the conservatory and the entrance hall. However, as things sometimes go in our field of work it wasn’t as straightforward as all that. The foundation trenches ended up having to be almost two metres deep due to the soft nature of the clay and the heavy load that would consequently be bearing down on it by from the four story wall above.
Our structural engineer calculated the stresses involved after which the walls were demolished and a heavy duty box frame installed into each of the openings. The whole area was then boarded out and made good with plaster.
New electrics and plumbing went in and marble tiles were laid on the floor. The newly designed bespoke kitchen was then installed resulting in the end product you can see below.
